Commissions
The commission process starts with input from the client that usually includes images of the site and a discussion about aesthetic considerations and color possibilities. Based on that conversation, I begin the drawing/design process, with the goal of landing on a form that both inspires me and satisfies the client’s expectations. Once the final design has been approved, the form is scaled up to a full-size template that is then traced onto the substrate block. Carving from rough to smooth follows. After the surface has gone through its final refinement, the spray booth work begins. Multiple coats of primer, base color, color, and clearcoat are applied—totaling roughly 20 coats. From start to finish, progress images are shared with the client.
